1. Our Privacy-Focused Approach

US Support LLC ("we," "our," or "us") operates we.cam, accessible via web browser and mobile applications. This Privacy Policy explains our privacy-focused approach to peer-to-peer communications across all platforms.

Key Principle: Video, audio, and text communications travel directly between participants (peer-to-peer) and never pass through our servers. We store only minimal temporary data needed to facilitate connections.

2. What We Collect

What we do NOT collect or store:

  • Video or audio content (transmitted directly P2P between users)
  • Chat message content (P2P or stored only in participants' browsers)
  • Email addresses, phone numbers, or real names
  • User accounts or profiles
  • Payment information

What we DO temporarily store:

  • Room information (room codes, settings, host info)
  • Participant data (display names, connection status, peer IDs)
  • Room events (join/leave logs for connection management)
  • Speaking queue data (for queue mode rooms)
  • Hashed passcodes for private rooms (SHA256 hash only)
  • WebRTC signaling data (offers, answers, ICE candidates)
  • Standard server logs (IP addresses, timestamps, user agents)

IP Address Disclosure: Due to P2P technology, your IP address may be visible to other participants. Consider using a VPN for additional privacy.

2.1 Mobile App Data

When using the we.cam mobile application, the following additional data is handled:

Stored locally on your device only:

  • Your display name preference
  • App settings (sound preferences, speakerphone setting)
  • Recent room history (room codes and timestamps, auto-deleted after 24 hours)

Device permissions requested:

  • Camera & Microphone: Required for video calls (core functionality)
  • Notifications: To show active call status when app is in background
  • Vibration: For attention request alerts from other participants
  • Bluetooth: For audio routing to wireless headsets/speakers

Local Only: App preferences and recent rooms are stored only on your device and are never sent to our servers.

3. Data Retention

All temporary data is automatically deleted:

  • Room data: 24 hours after last activity (or 10 min if empty)
  • Participant records: 1 hour after disconnection
  • Room events: 60 minutes
  • WebRTC signals: 5 minutes
  • Bans/mutes: Immediately upon expiration
  • Server logs: 30-90 days

Privacy Benefit: Since communication content never passes through our servers, we cannot access or be compelled to produce records of your conversations.

4. Private Room Security

For private rooms with passcode protection:

  • Numeric passcodes: Numbers only (0-9), max 20 digits
  • SHA256 hashing: Passcodes are hashed immediately
  • No plaintext: Your actual passcode is NEVER stored
  • Browser storage: Passcodes may be stored in sessionStorage (cleared when tab closes)

Warning: "Copy Invite Link" includes the passcode in the URL. Only share with trusted people.

5. End-to-End Encryption

we.cam offers optional end-to-end encryption:

  • Media and messages encrypted with a password only participants know
  • Uses AES-256-GCM encryption standard
  • We cannot decrypt this content
  • Must be enabled by room host

Note: Even without E2E encryption, communication travels directly between participants (P2P) and does not pass through our servers.

6. Third-Party Services

Google STUN Servers: To establish P2P connections, we use Google's public STUN servers (stun.l.google.com). Your IP is exposed to Google during connection setup. This is standard WebRTC behavior.

Google Analytics: Anonymous website usage data (pages visited, browser type, country). No communication content is tracked. Opt out here.

7. Cookies, Sessions & Local Storage

Website (essential cookies only):

  • Session ID for host verification and security
  • CSRF token for security protection

Mobile App (local storage only):

  • Display name and app preferences (stored on device)
  • Recent room history (auto-cleared after 24 hours)

No Tracking: We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. The mobile app does not use cookies at all.

8. Children's Privacy

Our Service is not intended for children under 13. Since we do not collect personal information, we do not knowingly collect data from children.

9. Your Rights

Since we do not collect personal information, traditional data rights (access, correction, deletion) are not applicable. You maintain complete control over your communications as they never leave your device except to go directly to other participants.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy at any time. Continued use = acceptance.
